Week 4: Homework

Hey guys and gals, just in case you forgot, we need to have section B4 completed for class on Monday; which is already October. Crazy how fast it goes.

Oh, and study for our Monday quiz. It's all that fun math stuff that we overstudied for in preparation of our last quiz. Ohm's Law, Watt's Law, $kWh and more!

Since I don't have anything particularly witty to say today, without further adieu, here is a bunny with a waffle on its head:

Homework: Sept 26 - German Bonus Edition

SHINY SHINY SHINY pieces of completely useful metal. Please give them to Großenführer Norm for evaluation and possible consumption. Das ist gut, ja?

Also, we had more fun work to do. D1 - LT/ST 9 and that's that. Also remember that B4 is due on October 1.

Now for the good stuff...

Homework: Sept 24

We will do ALL the math!!

D1 LT/ST 5, AELC Pages 5-7, Ohm's Law worksheet.

Also, B4 (WHMIS) is due next Monday (Oct 1). Real tough stuff, there.

If you Ohm'd when you should have Watt'd, you're gonna have a bad time.

BC Hydro Electrical Apprenticeship

Hey everyone, this is for real. Great wages and government benefits. Like I said in class, I have a friend who works for BC Hydro and he says it's absolutely amazing.

BC Hydro Apprenticeship Application

Only catch is that they want Grade 12 Math, Physics and English. If you qualify for it, it's a great opportunity.

Weekend 3: Homework

Don't drink too much this weekend. Norm decided to give us the gift of knowledge to abate our tendency towards delicious libations and poor moral judgment. Sly devil... I say knowledge is fuel for the brain but alcohol is fuel for a non-stop party machine.

From the heavy white one:
(D-1) Learning Tasks 3-4 and Self-Tests 3-4.
(B-3) Learning Task 1 and Self Test 1.

From the AELC book:

Pages 1-4.

Tesla was pretty sweet...

However...

Tesla ain't got nothin' on ol' Louie

Homework: Sept. 19

So after all those mathletic competitions which we paid so much money for, we FINALLY made it to one of the books we paid even MORE for (but this one looks totally legit...)

Homework was just the Learning tasks 1 and 2, and the Self-tests associated with them. That's all tonight.

Hope everyone got their multi-tools nice and shiny, even though I don't think KPU is gonna pay for our shoulder rehab after we finish.

Peace!

Reminder!

Hey everyone! This is a reminder that we need to bring our Electrical Binder #1 to class on Wednesday. Looks like we might actually start learning about electricity now!

Also, I hope everyone nailed the test. It wasn't that bad at all, except I couldn't remember what Norm's 10% fee was for.

People should comment their answers. Best one should win a prize:

Mine: Beer and whiskey.

Homework: End of week 2. Sept. 13-15

Norm asked us to finish our competency workbooks and the extra math worksheets for homework. C-3 through C-5. We also have an exam on ALL of the content (A-1 through C-5) on Tuesday at some point. Monday we will be in the Millwright shop working on our multi-tool, so remember to bring your work boots, your goggles, and some clothing you don't mind getting a bit dirty.

Also, we still need to figure out why U.S. gallons are smaller than imperial gallons. Norm mentioned his reason, and he asked us to tell him if it was a pile of BS or not.

Homework: Sept. 12

Hey all, this is a pretty heavy load of work. Competencies C-2 and C-5, Crossword Puzzle (with Norm's exceptional spelling skills). This is also a reminder that tomorrow at 10:30 we have our WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Material Information Sheet). This stuff is pretty straightforward and if you were in high school in BC, you probably did this test in either grade 8 or 9, and if not, don't fear. The internet is full of useful information!

We were also asked the question 'Why are US Gallons smaller than Imperial Gallons?' The task is to use the internet and find the answer using a reliable source. (Remember that .com's and .org's. are a little different).

Finally, next week we will have our first exam either on Monday or Tuesday. The exam will be based on all of the competencies (A1-A3, B1-B8, and C1-C5). Make flash cards, study your SQ3R's, and try not to fry your brains with all this math that we've had to endure over the past 2 weeks!

Homework: Sept. 11

Homework for Tuesday, September 11 is Competencies B7, B8, and C1. Also, Allan left a comment yesterday. He mentioned that Zellers is selling their work boots right now for 40% off their original price.

Might be something to check out!

Homework: Sept. 10

Hey everyone, another reminder for the homework. Norm asked us to finish Competencies B-5 and B-6, as well as the handouts he gave to us today.

Also, a reminder to everyone to get their CSA approved work boots. We might be back in the Carpentry workshop tomorrow.

Homework: End of Week 1 - Completed over the weekend

Hey everyone, Norm asked us all to complete the following work for the weekend of September 7-9, due for Monday, September 10:

  • B-2: Solve Problems Involving Whole Numbers
  • B-3: Solve Problems Involving Fractions and Decimals
  • B-4: Solve Problems Involving Ratio and Proportion
We were also asked to complete a small task about finding credible information on the internet using Google Search. We were asked to use 'Elvis Presley' as an example and figure out which websites were credible and which were total garbage.

See e'ry one next week!
